Antivirus - Which one is the best?

I have seen lot of people using either Kaspersky or AVG Free Edition as the virus scanner. Kaspersky people argue that Kaspersky is the best, and AVG people argue that AVG is the best. So I thought I would write something comparing the two products.

Having installed two (or more) virus scanners on the same machine at the same time may drastically decrease the system performance. (Perhaps they 'collide' each other?) Other thing is that no virus scanner is 100% effective/ efficient. So you can use only a one at a time.

First, look at Kaspersky. It is not freeware. It costs about 2500 - 3000 rupees as I remember. But most people use  pirated versions. Kaspersky is a bit resource demanding than AVG. It consumes a lot of RAM and CPU. You can see this when you start a computer which has Kaspersky installed. It takes a lot of time to start up Windows desktop.

However, Kaspersky is more vigilant than AVG Free. So, if you are a beginner, if you are not much experienced I recommend Kaspersky.

Now, look at AVG Free. (It is free in the context of free beer - not as in FOSS Tongue out) It is not much resource demanding, and also not much vigilant. If you are a much experienced user, I recommend AVG Free. I have not worked with AVG Professional Edition, perhaps it might not good as the Kaspersky.

In my computer I use the AVG Free Edition. It is good for me because I can save the system resources for some other useful work. However, because I am also vigilant, viruses have not made any problems to me. Do not 100% rely on virus scanners.

Finally, it is up to you to choose what to use. Here I just wrote what I think about those.
